Replace older Clarion radio, retain remote control and save money and time without rewiring.
When replacing an existing Clarion Marine source unit (radio), there is a possibility that the existing wired remote(s) in the vessel will no longer be compatible. Marine source units, wired remotes, and wired remote connecting cables manufactured from 1998 to 2008 use a 6-pin connection. Marine source units (radios), wired remotes, and wired remote connecting cables manufactured between 2009-Up use an 8-pin connection. To replace an older Clarion source unit (6-pin) with newer (2009-Up) Bluetooth, Sirius source unit (8-pin), the boat owner has to run a new connecting cable or forfeit the install; but for less than $50, the CCUMRA1 adapter cable makes it possible to connect Clarion 2009-Up radios to the existing wired remote control on upper deck, transom, dive platform etc. Warning: The 6-pin wired remote connecting cable does not allow for illumination circuit, or IR repeating to function, which means any remote with an LCD display (Radio frequency, CD, track numbers, etc.) will remain blank; but buttons (e.g. FF, RW, Pause, Play etc.) will function.
» Install a 2009-19 radio (e.g. CMV1, CMD6, M505, M309, CMS1 etc.) and retain old remote (e.g. CMRC1, CMRC2, M101RC M102RC etc.) -- See drop-down and application guide for full listing.
» Works with 6-pin extension "BOAT CABLE" (M101RC) or 6-pin splitter cable (M101RYC)
» Mute button on non-LCD remotes (e.g. CMRC2 SB, CMRC2-BSS) may or may not function.
» Track number, radio station information etc. is no longer displayed but function buttons (track up/down, Vol, etc.) remain operational.- Don't ignore this warning!
» IR remote signal pass-through (e.g. MF-1 etc.) is not supported
Do i need the CCUMRA1, CCUMRA2 or both?
1. 2009-Up source units (radios) with (8-PIN ) remote cable connector requires the CCUMRA1 to retain old remote (6-pin)
2. 2009-Up wired remotes with 8-pin plug (e.g. MW1, MW2, MW3, MW4 etc.) to old 6-pin source unit (radio); requires our CCUMRA2
3. 2009- Up source units (radios) with 8-pin remote cable connector with a 2009-Up wired remote with 8-pins; requires both the CCUMRA1 and CCUMRA2. Please check application prior to ordering.
4. Not applicable to Clarion 2020+ CMM models: CMM-10, CMM-20, CMM-30 etc. See our CMRC5
